Scoop (2006) or a kindler gentler Match Point (2005)?

I am a Woody Allen fan, but I find it hard to believe that anyone likes everything that he does. I went to Match Point on a date and decided soon after that I hated his dramas. Being that Scoop was in the comedy section and a lot of people told me it was really good I rented it. The reviews for it say that it's not very funny, just weird. For me it reminded me too much of Match Point. Things that kept my attention were nothing to do with the plot or acting, but rather the fact that I'd never found Hugh Jackman to be more attractive and that I like magic and magicians.

I didn't dislike it as much as Match Point, because in the end the bad guy did get caught. In fact the next day I told people I still hadn't formed an opinion on it.  I find it odd than even as an Anglophile, I still prefer his New York comedies to his British social status murder mysteries.

I have always felt that the Taking Back Sunday song Timberwolves at New Jersey reminded me of Match Point, especially Jonathan Rhys Meyers characters and his deceit, social climbing and lack of conscious.
This is me with the words on the tip of my tongue
And my eye through the scope
Down the barrel of a gun (gun, gun)
Remind me not to ever act this way again
This is you trying hard to
Make sure that you’re seen
With a girl on your arm
And your heart on your sleeve
Remind me not to ever think of you again
This is me with the words
On the tip of my tongue
And my eye through the scope
Down the barrel of a gun
Remind me not to ever act this way again (again)
Again (again)
