I just got done watching Kindergarten Cop (1990). I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I vaguely remember watching it, either on VHS or TV a long time ago. There are some great lines in that movie beyond the famous "It's not a tumor" and "Boys have a penis and girls have a vagina."
Some of of my favorites were " You can't just come in here and wave your gun around, I'm trying to get manicure." and " Sorry I forgot to tell you, this is my ferret he doesn't bite." as well as " I'm not a police officer, I'm a princess!"
I didn't want to watch the peril scenes, because deep down I'm an empathetic wussy pants.I also was just told that Astoria is a real place and Goonies was filmed there, actually shit ton of 80s-early 90s movies were filmed there including: Overboard, Short Circuit, The Black Stallion, Free Willy 1and 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, and Benji the Hunted. (wiki on Astoria)
For someone without kids, but who was once a kid of course, there is some weird child/parent dynamics to this movie. I also don't fully understand the begining. I mean where are they when they're in that mall storage room and the first guy gets murdered? And why is Chrisp so creepy with his mom and wanting his son so bad. Then there is the whole which messed up kid is the right kid issue, and I didn't think the boy who was his son was it. Then there is Arnie's issue with having a son he never sees. And I'm sure for that time, in 1990 it was starting to be common for kids to come from broken homes. I'm sure if was for comic effect, but I didn't care for how most of the kids in the kindergarten had bad things to say about their dads...
On a side note Miko Hughes will always be Michele's friend Aaron Bailey from Full House. OK he was like 4 when this movie came out, but he is tiny! I think I saw on a site, maybe his IMDb that he only grew to be 5'3. I loved Full House when I was about in 4th grade. I loved TGIF.
